Day 2
I don’t remember much from that morning before we reached the dome. Probably because I had over slept and forgotten breakfast. But none the less I eventually made it. I had missed small groups that morning due to my oversleeping, which made me a little upset, but I was mostly grateful to have made it to the dome on time.
Session 2
We began the first session of the day with some more worship and a message from John Piper. A few verses that stood out to me from his teachings were Jeremiah 2:10-13
“Cross over to the coasts of Cyprus and look, send to Kedar[a] and observe closely; see if there has ever been anything like this: Has a nation ever changed its gods?
(Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people have exchanged their glorious God for worthless idols. Be appalled at this, you heavens, and shudder with great horror,” declares the Lord. “My people have committed two sins They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”
This whole passage is titled Israel forsakes God. This is where the ultimate essences of Evil comes in. We as humans lose our taste for God, we find things of this earth and prefer them over Him. A great example he made of this is Genesis 3: 1-6.
“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”
Eating the fruit was not the Essence of evil, this was brought in when they began desiring the fruit over God.
Story Time: After the second session we had a little lunch break. All of us were super excited to have a “free” lunch – aka we paid for it with our tickets. They gave us these super cool boxes with food from a local deli, and you know what that means. SANDWICHES! So everything is great as I am eating my sandwich and all of a sudden I hear a loud CRACK. Little did I know I had just Cracked the crown on my tooth in half. Long story short I ended up having half a tooth by the end of passion. My mom said shed come get me and take to me a dentist but I told her I wasn’t leaving and trust me it was worth it.
I’m probably going to go session by session with these to make it easier to keep up with! Also remember I am barley scratching the surface with these summaries and left out a lot so if you were at passion, you understand what I mean by it was truly to much to write. And if you were not able to go, you should totally look up the messages because they were AMAZING!
